Resolution 8-08A Has Been Adopted

Resolution 8-08A, with minor amendment, has been adopted by a vote of 613 to 568.

Yes X, it's bad. Our Synod structure has always been based on the assumption that the Synod is composed of a group of congregations that share the same confession, and thus the same doctrine. Our relationship to each other has been one founded on that confession and a fraternal Christian love for one another. The Synod was formed to celebrate our common confession, to encourage each other in maintaining that confession and doctrine, to train pastors, and to do other things together that we would have a hard time doing on our own. As such, each congregation was independent and "operated" on the power of the Word. What we've done now is turn the Synod into something controlled by one man, operated by the power of his word. We've also taken another major step in basing the Synod on a focus on mission instead of a focus on justification by grace through faith. When you do that, it rapidly becomes all about you instead of all about the Word.
