Something's Askew

Do some of these convention resolutions seem a little bit off?

I don't get it. Something is missing. Nice picture, though.

It's the time of year when most LCMS Districts are having their District Conventions, which means it's the time of the year when you're going to see convention resolutions that seem a little bit "off," i.e. not quite confessionally oriented (at least if you live in my District).

OK, I get it. oYou see all kinds of resolutions at district conventions. It's time that conventions return to their original purpose. You could look it up.

If you look carefully at the scenery, especially the trees to the right of the building, you will see that the it is the picture that is tilted. The building is not tilted. The cars are actually parked on a hill.

One could use this to encourage all delegates to examine the resolutions carefully before voting on them. They may not be what they seem to be at first glance.

Unknown, maybe a similar way to put it would be that it's about context!

Joe, having read both volumes of Essays for the Church, which are Walther's essays from various synodical conventions, I don't need to look that one up. The original conventions were about doctrine, not pious drivel like they are now - pontificating synodocrats sitting in a red chair.
