I suspect people send their kids to Valpo because they don't know any better, perhaps due to poor catechesis.

Scripture says God created the world ex nihilo. The Big Bang Theory (which has got serious scientific problems and possibly eroding support) says the world came from a singularity.Scott Diekmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03227142854778319475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728845570179741211.post-45698299015402902292012-04-16T12:31:24.455-07:002012-04-16T12:31:24.455-07:00Given that ELCA Lutheran theology dominates this &...Given that ELCA Lutheran theology dominates this "independent" Lutheran university, Dr. Becker's positions on many issues do not surprise me. The theological positions promoted by Valpo are hostile to LCMS doctrine. Therefore, why would any LCMS parent want to send his/her child to such a school. Why would any LCMS church member want to donate money to Valpo. I don't get it.

Dr. Becker knows that the LCMS has not clearly defined what women may or may not do in the Church. Trying to pit more liberal LCMS congregations against conservative ones is clever. Some congregations allow women to assume many traditional "men only" roles. For example, should women be ushers or elders? The LCMS needs to define the Office of Holy Ministry in a clear and concise manner. Until that happens, people such as Pastor Becker will continue to lobby regarding the "gray areas" within LCMS theology.

Why is this pastor still working at an LCMS congregation? He should not be allowed to do so. Another district president must be sleeping on the job.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728845570179741211.post-5645686215787240112012-04-16T07:19:05.715-07:002012-04-16T07:19:05.715-07:00Thanks for posting this. We must look at the evidence. First Lets look at Big Bang versus Creation if you look at the order of Creation from Genesis penned by Moses some 3000 years before modern physicists it matches the origin of the cosmos and of earth are parallel in science and in the Bible. Did moses plagerize? or did science. Could the two explanations develope in the same order? or as I like to say the Bible is the synopsis and the science is the working drawings? More often than not science proves the Bible when all the facts are in, but never when the theories are presented. Let's look at evolution the key to evolution is the missing link. Missing or never there? God through Moses explained to us that the waters brought forth life (so does evolution) if you read Genesis the story is consistant with evolution (with the exception of time which I will explain later) until you get to man (hence the missing or non existant link) I have no issue with evolution until this point. The earth brought forth life at the command of God himself but Man is specifically created by God directly, hands on if you will! Now since this a comment and not an article unto itself let's talk about time. Strangely enough Quantum Physicists have decoded the time factor which conflicts with the Bible in a nut shell Time evolved from the beginning and has slowed down at the moment of the big bang since space had no physical properties at that time there was no need for the universe to expand since there was nothing. so at the moment of the big bang everything was set into place instantly. If science was correct everything would be moving apart from a single origin point yet everything moves towards and away from each other. Quantum Physics points out time is relative to your point of perspective not in general. It is a mystery only God can reveal to us. Mind you the bibical is correct and science is flawed but, as we learn more theories are refined and man must admit that the Bible speaks the truth word for word.Fallhikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00558598370555827002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728845570179741211.post-57208474815559867052012-04-16T05:18:31.420-07:002012-04-16T05:18:31.420-07:00Dr. Becker's questions (“Was Adam literally fo...Dr. Becker's questions (“Was Adam literally formed from the ground?”, etc) sound eerily similar to that talking snake's first question, "Did God really say...?" It is but a short step from faith in God's word, to belief in theistic evolution ("God used it") to downright apostasy. He is a dangerous man.

Joe StrieterAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
